PBM Therapy

How Photobiomodulation Therapy Helps Heal and Reduce Pain

Description
Dr. Makani Lew, DC, DACRB, a full-time professor and clinician at Palmer College of Chiropractic West of 23 years, instructs future chiropractors in several fields: diagnosis, chiropractic technique, physiotherapy modalities, and active care. Dr. Lew teaches how passive modalities work and how to use them for the best clinical outcome. These modalities include laser, light therapy, ultrasound, stim, shockwave, and more. Her active care curriculum includes rehabilitative factors such as stretches, exercises, balance and agility, and myofascial release. By combining these treatments and modifying the care plan to best fit the patient, the goal is to create a program that empowers the patient while providing optimal integrated musculoskeletal care.

Course Description:
Dr. Lew will build a strong foundation for PBMT starting with the basics such as: the science of laser; research of laser history; and how laser affects anatomy-- explained simply! And will then exemplify this with three case studies including TMJ; wrist sprain; and finger sprain.
